For the past three years all my work has been focused on "the community". The community collaborates, the community connects, the community grows, but what does that really mean? It is hard to define what a community is because it is made out of multiple and unique individuals, each with their own set of skills, knowledge, beliefs and values. There are no required characteristics or geographical constraints as to which person can be part of your community. A community cares for one another and favors the common wealth over individual again. Every stranger has the potential to become your friend in a world where you can communicate instantly across space and time (zones). No nation can limit it and no politician can represent it. Whether we realize it or not, we are all part of a community. A community of global citizens, intricately connected and completely interdependent. Like culture, a community is defined and defines the people who adopt it. Communities are the building blocks of the future.
"In a real sense, all life is interralated. All men are caught in an escapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be, and you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I am ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality"
